The Government has pledged to employ all graduates before the end of 2019 in a four-stage program while preparing a national policy to cover all sectors, National Policies and Economic Affairs State Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva told Parliament yesterday.
Currently there are 57,000 unemployed graduates as at 31 December 2016 and this number will increase with the graduates of 2017 and 2018 added to it.
“Priority will be given to those who graduated before 31 December 2016 when employing the unemployed graduates. During the second stage, all those who graduated before 30 June 2018 will be given the opportunity to face interviews. So this will cover those who graduated in 2017 and 2018,” he said.
