Jan 30, Colombo: Sripada National College of Education in Patana, Hatton has been temporarily closed due to an outbreak of fever, state media reported.
The Kotagala Health Medical Superintendent’s office has advised the head of the faculty to close the school until the 5th of February.
Nearly 200 teachers and students of the College have complained of fever and upper respiratory ailments yesterday and sought medical treatment at the Kotagala Regional Hospital.
District Medical Officer Savitri Sharma said that around 50 patients were treated at the OPD of the hospital today. She added that another group of students had been sent to Dikoya Base Hospital.
Public Health Inspectors have launched an investigation into the spread of fever within the college premises.
