All state universities will be closed for a period of two weeks from Saturday the 14th of March, the University Grants Commission decided, at a meeting held this morning with the Vice-Chancellors of all state universities.
Chairman of the UGC Professor Sampath Amaratunga speaking to News 1st said this measure was taken considering the safety of students following concerns of the coronavirus of COVID-19.
All weekend programs at state universities were also suspended, he added.
